BDP whip supports funding of political parties

Mahalapye East MP, Botlogile Tshireletso has become the second ruling party legislator after Botsalo Ntuane to join opposition calls for state funding of political parties.Tshireletso rooted for funding of political parties this week when debating the Ministry of Presidential Affairs and Public Administration chapter in the National Development Plan 10 (NDP 10).

The Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) chief whip told Parliament that Kgalagadi Breweries Limited has set the trend in the funding of political parties with its recent donation.

The legislator said if government is funding parties, the BDP is going to get the lion's share because it has won the largest number of seats. She said the BDP will always remain in power if the government funds political parties.
