BDP takes control of southern councils

After the recent elections, the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) will control five of the six councils south of the Dibete cordon fence.

The ruling party has numerical supremacy even in the capital city, Gaborone where the opposition has been in control for decades.

The BDP is expected to be in charge of Gaborone, Gantsi, Kweneng, Lobatse and South East while the Botswana National Front (BNF) will rule the roost in Jwaneng.
