BDP survives on the plight of the poor - Saleshando

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Selebi-Phikwe West, Gilson Saleshando says the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) is taking advantage of the suffering of poor people to stay in power.

He said that the government is unable to create sustainable jobs and only plays with their vulnerable minds with such poor programmes as backyard gardening, constituency leagues and others.

Saleshando was commenting on the Hides and Skins (Amendment) Bill presented before the House on Wednesday. He said that Botswana is  home to over a million head of cattle and among the top beef producing countries in the world and yet it continues to export unprocessed hides to other countries, creating jobs for their citizens.
