Following his arrest last night, Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) says it is too early to comment on Member of Parliament (MP) Dr Thapelo Matseka's matter.

The Lobatse legislator is one of the suspects in Tlotso Karema’s death. The former Minister of Finance has been detained together with Councillor for Peleng East, Ontiretse Mosimanewamacha and Tlotso's Aunt, Nono Karema.

Tlotso’s stepfather a Zimbabwean national, Lovemore Sithole (37) was the first person to be arrested last month and has already appeared before court.

“We will allow processes to unfold and the party will at the right time act as it always does should the need arise,” the BDP spokesperson Kagelelo Kentse said in an interview.

Tlotso failed to return home after school and was reported missing on March 18, 2022 after disappearing.

The police then embarked on a massive search with the help of members of the public but to no avail. On April 13 this year, the police received a tip off and human remains were discovered in the bush along the Kanye road. The police later revealed that the DNA report from their Forensic Laboratory showed that the remains belong to the missing Tlotso.
