BDP regrets election fracas

The Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) has regretted the fracas that marred its primary elections in the Serowe North East constituency over the weekend.

The Lechana polling station in Topisi ward had to be closed prematurely because of the incident. Yesterday, BDP's political and administration manager Fedelis Molao said the incident is regrettable though he did not want to go into details. He said they are still waiting for an independent report on the matter. Sources say only 66 people had voted when the police closed the polling station.

Supporters of parliamentary candidate Kgotla Autlwetse are accused of causing a storm at the polling station after discovering that their names were not on the final voters' roll on Saturday morning.
