BDP men prepare ahead of August 30

SELEBI-PHIKWE: A bare knuckled contest for Botswana Democratic Party's parliamentary seats is expected to send sparks flying especially in the Selebi-Phikwe East where the incumbent Minister of Lands and Housing Nonofho Molefhi will be battling it out against former Phikwe town clerk Itireleng Phatshwane.

Molefhi has proved to be Parliament material since he entered the National Assembly as evidenced by his elevation to a cabinet position. Despite the fact that his constituency has been marred by tensions and commotions that emanated from the appointment of the specially-elected councillor Rosemary Mukwewa to allegations that were levelled against the MP for failure to turn up for Kgotla meetings, Molefhi has pulled out all the stops to win the hearts and minds of the electorate in the constituency.

The MP came under fire after Mukwewa's appointment as the electorate felt that she was an outsider and vowed never to support her. Recently, Molefhi was reportedly barred from the race by the constituency's vetting committee in a move that surprised many.
