BDP loses GCC

Mayor Veronica Lesole advised to resign to avoid embarrassment. Opposition coalition now in control of the country's two cities.

The three-party opposition coalition has taken control of the Gaborone City Council after four Botswana Democratic Party  (BDP) councillors crossed the floor to the Botswana Movement for Democracy (BMD). They are Oabile Mafunga of Naledi Central, Marx Bobi of Notwane, Nunu Lekau of Marulamantsi and Gabonewe Ketumile of Sekgwa ward.
