BDP leaders boycott party events

Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) secretary general Thato Kwerepe has castigated party leaders for boycotting BDP events.

Presenting his report at the just ended BDP National Council on Saturday, Kwerepe said he was worried that there was a growing trend of shunning party activities by senior members such as councillors and members of parliament.

"The recent 'Month of BDP' has demonstrated that people attend activities only when President Ian Khama, the vice-president and party chairman Daniel Kwelagobe are in attendance. This is not good and must come to an end. Even those who attend do not bring people they just drive alone in their cars to an activity. This is unacceptable," he said.
