BDP faces BCP scare in Tswapong South

SEFHARE: The Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) hosted the 19th National Youth Executive Committee (NYEC) elective congress in Sefhare, Tswapong region, to reinvigorate the party against the Botswana Congress Party (BCP) which has made serious inroads in the area, Mmegi has observed.

BCP's performance at the last general elections in Palapye, Tswapong North and Tswapong South constituencies completely changed the political landscape in the region, and has the ruling party deeply worried.

BDP regional chairman, Olebile Babolai appealed to the BDP to assist the region to win back the wards it lost to the opposition. He added that the opposition, especially the BCP, poses a serious threat. "This really disturbs us as a region," he said during the official opening of the youth congress last weekend.  Babolai further told Mmegi that the congress was strategically hosted by Tswapong South, particularly in Sefhare, because the village had the highest number of BCP supporters.
