FRANCISTOWN: Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) Political Education and Elections Committee (PEEC) has dismissed a recent petition querying the results of the Women's Wing elections. PEEC took the decision after looting at the petition during a meeting in Palapye. PEEC is chaired by Local Government Minister and former head of the BDP Women's Wing, Margaret Nasha.

Although she was not prepared to give details, the minister confirmed yesterday that they have communicated their decision to the seven women who challenged the election results. "You have to understand the structure of our party. What we were doing was to analyse the petition and now we have communicated our findings to those who matter in this issue," said Nasha.
"It is none of your business to know what we have concluded. Unless those affected release our conclusion, I will not do so. The BDP would not tell the whole nation what analysis and conclusions we have come up with."
One of the petitioners, Ivory Keke confirmed yesterday that the PEEC has reached a decision but she was yet to receive a letter. "We would look at the contents of the letter from the party and see if it warrants any response," declared Keke. She indicated that the seven petitioners would look at the PEEC response jointly and reach a conclusion.
Another petitioner, Veronicah Lesole said yesterday that they would have to meet and chart the way forward. "As a group that petitioned the results of the congress elections, we would see what conclusion we would reach."
Other petitioners include, Binkie Kerileng, Esther Mokgosi, Banyenyi Davids and Botshele Kgatitswe.
The seven BDP women petitioned the elections last month citing irregularities. They said the winning faction led by chairperson Tebelelo Seretse used unfriendly means of campaign through the use of lobby lists. The use of lobby lists is currently outlawed by the BDP.
