BDP denies snubbing private press in election campaign

The Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) has defended its decision to run its election campaign advertisements only in the government-owned Daily News newspaper.

BDP executive assistant, Lee Lesetedi said that this is not a deliberate attempt to deny the private press adverts because they chose the Daily News to exploit the advantages it has.  He said they prefer to advertise with the Daily News because it is free and reaches the masses.
