Education minister and BDP secretary general, Jacob Nkate, has condemned the advert saying there is a concerted effort to sell the view that President Ian Khamas rule is a threat to democracy. It is unfortunate that BDP members are falling for this cheap gimmick, he said.

Nkate added that the party does not mind when people raise funds for their own purposes but it is unacceptable for the fundraisers to pretend that Botswanas democracy is under threat. Our democracy is solid, he asserted. He emphasised that if ever the countrys democracy is under threat, he would be one of the first people to speak out.
