FRANCISTOWN: A 38-year-old Botswana Defence Force (BDF) soldier based at Donga Military Garrison was arraigned in court today (Tuesday) for being found in possession of suspected stolen property.

The state alleges that Thato Mosige was found with 24 kilogrammes (kg) of stewing beef and 10kg of rice and sorghum amongst others in May 2018 at the Donga BDF camp.

Mosige pleaded not guilty to the charge and said that he will engage an attorney to represent him.

It is not clear as yet if the suspected stolen food belonged to the BDF or not.

Prosecutor Ewetse Jane pleaded with the court to set another date for mention. Magistrate Game Mooketsi then called on Mosige to advise his attorney that May 4 will be the next date for mention and status update.
