BDF keeps horse training costs under wraps

The Botswana Defence Force (BDF) is refusing to reveal how much it is paying a company it has engaged in Mogobane to conduct training of trainers for professional horse handlers.

Some soldiers working under the ceremonial and guard unit have alleged that the army has many qualified personnel and there was no need to engage a private company to conduct the training. To make matters worse, they alleged that the tender was never advertised.

The BDF through its spokesperson, Major Fana Maswabi said the tender was issued through single sourcing, which does not require advertising, hence a waiver was granted by the Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Board (PPADB).
