BDF Commander not guilty, says Seretse

The Minister of Defence and Security Ramadeluka Seretse says he will not undertake further investigations to ascertain the truth of political statements attributed to Botswana Defence Force (BDF) commander Lieutenant General Tebogo Masire.

On a recent official visit to Zimbabwe, Masire was quoted in that country's media commenting on Zimbabwe's indigenisation policy and slamming the Western media's coverage of African affairs.

Seretse made it clear to Parliament on Friday that between the Zimbabwean media and Masire, he believes the latter's account of events. He said the BDF commander has denied making the statements and that he (Seretse) has done everything necessary to determine their veracity.
