Botswana Defence Force (BDF) has appointed a board of inquiry to look in to what caused the mid-air collision of its planes in Letlhakeng last week.

BDF Air Force Commander, Major General Placid Segokgo said yesterday that the board consists of military experts. "The board has pilots, engineers and others who are tasked to look in to what might have caused the accident," he said. He added that the board is expected to hand over its findings by November 11.

Segokgo would not say whether the findings would be made public. "We will have to look into different aspects of the findings before we can make them public.  For example if there are aspects in the findings that undermines our intelligence collection, that part would have to be omitted or scrapped before the report is made public," he explained.
