BCP vows to retain Morupule ward

PALAPYE: Botswana Congress Party(BCP) has vowed to retain Morupule ward,

BCP said at a rally on Sunday that it has the right candidate to win the ward again in the coming general elections after the incumbent councillor, Maina Kgopo retired due to ill-health. The party is fielding Jordan Makhura who was launched at the Sunday rally.Addressing scores of party followers who thronged the 'Low Cost' Freedom Square, Makhura said he has theright credentials to represent the ward. The BCP man has served the Botswana Police Service Special Support Group (SSG) as a communications manager. In a message meant for the ears of the police manning the rally, Makhura called on his former colleagues to vote for him. As an ex-policeman, he said he has a firsthand experience of the problems that bedevil officers. He said he has a deep understanding of the plight of the workers.He appealed to the working class from all parties to rally behind him.

BCP politician Comfort Molosiwa told the rally that Makhura is his friend and he knows that he has an impeccable track record. He said the ward has a sizeable number of Morupule Colliery workers, who stand to benefit from Makhura's mastery of the art of communications.He added that the candidate's negotiation skills will be quite handy in dealing with matters pertaining to employers and employees.
