BCP to discuss strike at public meetings

In a counter-offensive to President Ian Khama's kgotla meetings on the on-going strike, the Botswana Congress Party (BCP) has called upon its MPs and councillors across the country to hold similar meetings and discuss the strike in detail.

In an interview with Mmegi, BCP secretary general Dr Kesitegile Gobotswang said through kgotla meetings the party officials will share information on the strike and its impact on service provision in wards and constituencies.

"The meetings could also give communities a platform to give testimonies on how they have been directly affected. Obviously the strike must have affected different areas differently. For instance communities in Foot and Mouth Disease areas must be worried since veterinary officers as well as support staff may be on strike," he said.
