BCP targets 21 parliament seats

FRANCISTOWN: The Botswana Congress Party (BCP) has increased to 21 the number of constituencies it aims to win in the 2009 general elections. Because of their importance to the party, the constituencies are listed in category one.

The BCP secretary general, Taolo Lucas, explained that as part of their election strategy, they have identified some constituencies that they must win. Such targeting was informed by the performance of the BCP or Botswana Alliance Movement (BAM)/BCP in the 2004 general election.

"The targeted constituencies held their primary elections earlier than other constituencies," he said. The BAM is a BCP Pact partner.
