The Botswana Congress Party (BCP) plans to table a parliamentary motion for the amendment of Section 41 of the constitution which accords the state president absolute immunity from civil and criminal prosecution.

Section 41 has been in the limelight recently after the High Court and Court of Appeal cited it in declining to reverse the suspension President Ian Khama slapped on ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) secretary general, Gomolemo Motswaledi.

Addressing a politically rally at Tsholofelo on Saturday, BCP activist, Phagenyana Phage promised that if the BCP candidate for Gaborone North, Motsei Rapelana, is elected to Parliament, she would table a motion to amend the constitution, specifically Section 41.
