BCP opts for early primaries

Despite talks by the Botswana Alliance Movement (BAM) president, Lepetu Setshwaelo, that opposition parties were planning to revive the collapsed opposition talks, the Botswana Congress Party (BCP) has moved ahead to hold early primary elections without informing BAM, the BCP Secretary General, Taolo Lucas, has confirmed.

Taolo however noted that  "we can only alter our strategy to accommodate those we are currently working with," he said.

Currently, the BCP and BAM are the only parties left at the negotiating table, following the withdrawal of the Botswana National Front (BNF) and the Botswana Peoples Party (BPP).
