After seeking a postponement last week, the Botswana Congress Party (BCP) leadership has said it will not attend a meeting on umbrella talks to be held today, sparking fears that the party does not want to partake in the talks.

The meeting is intended to resuscitate the umbrella talks, which are expected to be complete by March this year.

In an interview with Mmegi yesterday, the BCP secretary general, Dr Kesitegile Gobotswang said they will not attend today's meeting, which will be held at the Botswana Movement for Democracy (BMD) boardroom in Gaborone.  The presidents and secretary generals of the BMD, the Botswana National Front (BNF) and the Botswana PeopleÕs Party (BPP) will attend the meeting.  The meeting is being held today after it was moved from last week Thursday at the behest of the BCP president, Dumelang Saleshando, who said at the time that he could only be available today.
