BCP goes solo at Bophirima

As the Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) fracas for Bophirima ward in the Gaborone Bonnington South rages on, Botswana Congress Party central committee has taken a decision to field its preferred candidate Peter Mogapi with their name, symbol and colours.

The Central Committee has also revealed that its decision however, doesn’t mark the official withdrawal of BCP from the coalition UDC, an umrella party they are contracted to.

Addressing the media on Monday, BCP secretary general (SG) Goretetse Kekgonegile said this decision was meant to mark the beginning of a resolute stand against unilateralism and dictatorship in the UDC. This comes after the UDC released a press statement announcing Mankie Sekete of the Botswana National Front (BNF) as the UDC candidate for the upcoming by-election in Bophirima ward.
