BCP councillor jailed for murder

FRANCISTOWN: A long serving Botswana Congress Party (BCP) councillor, Tabengwa Tabengwa has been remanded in custody for murder. The councillor is alleged to have shot dead a man suspected to be a thief at his home on March 7, 2008.

The indictment alleges that Tabengwa at Block 1 Location in Francistown murdered Kabelo Motswedi Molalapata. Senior Magistrate Peggy Madandume has committed the matter to the High Court since investigations are complete.

The Ikageng ward councillor was not detained in connection with the incident when it happened last year. The 29-year-old deceased hailed from Tonota.
