BCP councillor detained, fined for poaching

SELEBI-PHIKWE: A Botswana Congress Party (BCP councillor and two of his companions spent last Thursday night in police custody after they were arrested for poaching and illegal possession of a firearm.
Joseph Monyeki Molamu said they were caught while hunting guinea fowls along Martins' Drift-Palapye Road by the police who demanded a permit for the rifle he was using and a hunting licence, all of which he did not have at the time. "I was taken to the police station and I called somebody from home to bring the documents to the police (station)," he said.
Despite the residents’ relentless struggle and enduring fears, government has yet to provide a clear and comprehensive solution to this alarming issue.
