Botswana Congress Party (BCP)'s Secretary General, Taolo Lucas, has urged Botswana National Front (BNF) members to join the BCP, saying that instead of choosing to die with the BNF, the party's members could find a new political home in the BCP.

Taolo said the BCP should be voted to power because it was the only serious alternative to the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP).
"We are always the first to respond to national issues," he said as he cited the party's recent document titled erosion of democracy in Botswana.
Taolo said that since 2004 to date, his party had grown tremendously. "Ever since 2004, our party has won all the by- elections," he said.

He gave the example of Kobajango, Ramotswa and the latest victory in Mmopane. He further said that the BCP was capable of snatching state power from the BDP.
With just a few months before the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) opens for national registration, the BCP secretary general urged Batswana to register for elections en masse in order to vote the BDP out of power, adding that BNF members should vote for the BCP.
