BCP activists attend London workshops

FRANCISTOWN: The Botswana Congress Party (BCP) representatives recently attended two workshops for Africa organised by the ruling British Labour Party. Both workshops were for labour party sister organisations in Africa.

BCP secretary general, Taolo Lucas said the first conference was on women's charter. It was held from January 18-22, 2009 in London. The BCP was represented at the workshop by its treasurer, Florence Shagwa and the secretary for health Dr Habaudi Hobona.

"The workshop discussed ways through which women's representation can be improved in both political parties and in politics. The workshop was particularly useful in view of the bottlenecks that impede women access in decision-making positions, particularly in developing countries. The BCP will shortly study the report from the two representatives and map the way forward," said Lucas.
