BCL Mine Comes Under Attack

SELEBI-PHIKWE: BCL Mine came under attack during the Long Service Awards that were held on Friday. The attack was launched by the representative of employees who have worked for the mine for 20 years.

Launching his missiles, Buti Makwati said after working for the mine for such a long time, employees who retire become destitute. He stated that they developed the company from nothing to a multi-million Pula establishment but their hard work is not recognised by management. Makwati suggested that by the end of their service, the miners must be given a package that will see them through to a better life. He observed that at the moment that is not happening.

"For employees who have worked for the mine for 20 years, this should be a caution to you. You must start preparing for your retirement. You must start building houses in your villages and do not be blinded by the comfort of BCL houses. Shelter is a basic need," he said.
