Batswana take up backyard gardening in numbers

FRANCISTOWN: Government's backyard gardening initiative is bearing fruit as Batswana continue to embrace President Ian Khama's vision to boost food security in Botswana.

Now in its second year, government is still encouraging people to continue promoting and upgrading their backyard gardens.
The main aim of backyard gardening is to improve the livelihoods of the poor who are mostly unemployed women.

Speaking to Mmegi, the many involved in this project  gave backyard gardening a thumbs up, saying it is a good initiative because it helps them boost their food supply in these recession times.
