FRANCISTOWN: The Minister of Labour and Home Affairs, Edwin Batshu, has called on all trade unions across the country to play a leading role in ensuring that the country improves its ailing global ratings on ethics and productivity in the workplace.

Batshu made the remarks on Tuesday when addressing members of the Botswana Federation of Trade Unions (BFTU) who were commemorating Labour Day (May Day) at Francistown Stadium on Tuesday.

This year's event was themed Call for a Living Wage: A Call for Decent Work and Decent Living. Although he did not produce statistical data to substantiate his claims, Batshu said that the country's global ratings on ethics and productivity in the workplace have been in decline over the past few years compared to those of other nations.
