BATLA recommends land use reforms

SELEBI PHIKWE: The recent biennial conference of the Botswana Association of Tribal Land Authorities held in Selebi-Phikwe has resolved that land-boards should be encouraged to cooperate with BCL and the town council to encourage economic diversification.

Participants agreed that in order to reduce incidences of conflict over land ownership under ALDEP III. Confirmation of land ownership should come from the relevant authority and not Dikgosi in the case of tribal land, they said.

They also resolved that in view of scarce land resources, land boards should promote integrated land use in farming and backyard gardens.
