Batawana welcome brigades takeover

Maun: Batawana here have welcomed with both hands the government's initiative to take over the running of brigades in the country.

Responding to an address by Ministry of Education official and project coordinator Bushy Raleru at Maun Main Kgotla, residents commended government for lifting the burden off their shoulders.

They said brigades were hit by internal strife, mishandling of funds, corruption and irregularities in employees' salary payments, which resulted in low morale and crippled productivity.  Such factors had also contributed to poor performances by students and sparked conflicts between the community and brigade managements.
