Basarwa languages dying - UNESCO

UNESCO says that a number of languages spoken by the various groups popularly called Basarwa are either moribund or in danger of extinction.

According to a report launched last week at its Paris headquarters in France, the languages are part of about 25, 000 face extinction worldwide.

Deti, the language whose various dialects are spoken in Central District, Boteti Sub-district and in villages like Xhumo and Rakops along the Boteti River, is almost extinct.
