SELEBI-PHIKWE: The ban on braaing meat in local bars and butcheries here continues to haunt businesspeople as it has affected sales margins.

Entrepreneurs now claim to be under pressure to service loans from financiers such as the Citizen Entrepreneurship Development Agency (CEDA). As a result of the situation, they fear that they are likely to face difficulties with their businesses in future.

One such businessperson is Molefhi Pilane who owns a pig farm in Selebi-Phikwe. He said in an interview that he is facing serious problems and still fails to understand why the ban was effected. He noted that when he applied for a CEDA loan, "I indicated clearly that I would be supplying local butchery owners and it was on the grounds of the promising butchery market in town that I was successfully granted the loan".
