BALA condemns GCC for adjournment

The Botswana Association of Local Authorities president, Mpho Moruakgomo, has condemned Gaborone City councillors for adjourning the council for 14 days.

In a media missive yesterday, Moruakgomo, who is also a Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) activist said BALA condemns the attitude displayed by council and councillors, in particular where territorial political fights are taken to the council chambers leading to inefficiency and poor performance by the very institutions established to provide services to the electorates.

Once elected into office councillors are expected to do away with their political differences and serve the nation as a collecting in accordance with Township Act Cap: 40:01 and District Councils Act 40:02 respectively. These are the very instruments that are being reviewed and merged into one Local Government Bill.
