Bakgatla mark Heritage Week in SA

Heritage Week had a special significance for the Bakgatla-Ba-Kgafela community of Moruleng in South Africa's North West province this year.

A strong delegation of the Bakgatla community from Mochudi participated in the five-day event held at the newly constructed Moruleng stadium outside Rustenburg.

Kgosi-Kgolo Kgafela Kgafela II, the paramount chief of the tribe, presided over the opening of the 20, 000-seat stadium together with the local leader, Kgosi Nyalala Pilane.
Speaking at the event, Kgosi Pilane said Heritage Week provides citizens with a unique opportunity to reflect on the rich history and traditions of the various cultures that jointly make South Africa such a unique place.
