Bakgatla Celebrate Culture, Heritage In Style

The Bakgatla-Ba-Kgafela Tribal Authority in South Africa's North West Province today begin hosting their heritage week to celebrate the Bakgatla culture and officially welcome home more than 3,000 initiates who recently returned from initiation school in Mochudi in Botswana.

Starting today( 21 September) to Sunday, (27 September), residents of Moruleng and surrounding areas will open their hearts to visitors attending this showcase of Bakgatla culture, traditional food, dance, education, plus a free tour of the Pilanesberg National Park. They will also visit 12 heritage sites.

"We want people to experience our hospitality, rich culture and heritage. One of the highlights of the week will be a parade of some 3, 000 men and women who recently returned from initiation school in Mochudi," says Kgosi Nyalala Pilane, chief of the Bakgatla-Ba-Kgafela.
