'Back to school' buying patterns change

With parents opting to buy their children's school wear throughout the year rather than all in January, the rush of the traditional 'back to school' shopping at the beginning of the year has now become more like a trickle this year.

But parents continue to face more pressures of buying uniforms each year in January; and if their children move schools, the burden increases.

A sample of different retail shops in Gaborone selling school wear showed that not many parents were in a rush this January. (A number of the retail shops refused to grant Mmegi an interview to give an insight into the changing patterns, saying such information should be sought from their offices in South Africa!)
