Babirwa petitions Ngwato Tribal Authority

SELEBI PHIKWE: A delegation comprising some Bobonong headmen and some villagers recently petitioned Bamangwato Tribal Authority to lodge a protest about the establishment of Bobirwa ward, which they want abolished.

They claim that the ward has been unconstitutionally established and they suspect some ulterior motives  about it. It is also said that the ward has also installed a headman of arbitration who started drawing  a monthly salary since December last year.

The Deputy Headman of Makala ward Joseph Maphula, who has been appointed the secretary for the delegation said they are very worried and unhappy with the new ward as they are not aware of it and it appears nowhere in the history of Bobirwa. He said Bobirwa region at large comprises five main wards which are Sekoba, Bolaamba, Lekiko, Serumola and Dandane. All these wards have 38 sub wards and Maphula said Bobirwa ward is not among them.
