Aviation security taken seriously says Molefhi

Despite, two aircraft accidents in the Okavango Delta three weeks ago, Botswana takes aviation safety and security "very seriously", the Minister of Transport and Communications, Nonofo Molefhi, has said.

Officially opening the 20th annual general meeting of the Africa Aviation Safety Council (AFRASCO) in Gaborone yesterday, Molefhi said the country's commitment to aviation safety and security is illustrated by the creation of "necessary primary legislation required creating the correct regulatory framework to govern aviation safety and security in Botswana."

"The Civil Aviation Act and the Aviation Security Act introduce a new era of aviation compliance and enforcement by the Civil Aviation Authority of Botswana," Molefhi said.
