Kgotla Autlwetse has seen and done it all. After years of failed attempts in the Serowe North East constituency, he finally beat the odds to the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) ticket in the constituency.

He beat his usual nemesis, retired Brigadier Ramadeluka Seretse, who is also Minister of Justice, Defence and Security hands down in the recent primaries. Since 2003, Autlwetse’s hard-earned victories in the primaries were literally ‘stolen’ by the party, as if he was ‘unsuitable’ to represent the BDP.

In the past three BDP primaries, Autlwetse and Seretse have had three re-runs. Autlwetse showed his intent in the recent November 9 primaries when he won all the contested wards with 3,324 votes to Seretse’s 2,015 votes before the party ordered a re-run.
