Australia opens embassy

Australia will open a consulate in Gaborone today. The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Phandu Skelemani and Australian High Commissioner to South Africa, Ann Harrap will officially launch the consulate.

In a statement from the High Commission in South Africa Amin Sabet has been appointed the Honorary Consul responsible for Botswana. 

The relationship between the two countries has grown closer in the last few years reads the statement. Australian companies are heavily involved in the mining sector while at government-to-government level the two countries have established various areas of cooperation.
