Appeals Court ponders Daisy Loo P25m

LOBATSE: After hearing arguments early this week, the Court of Appeal has reserved judgment in the legal battle for a P25million cheque between the state and Daisy Loo Botswana cleaning company.

Last year, the Directorate on Public Prosecutions (DPP) appealed against the decision of Lobatse High Court judge, Unity Dow barring the state from touching Daisy Loo's P25,240,163.43.

The cheque at the centre of the long legal battle was paid to Daisy Loo for a controversial bush clearing exercise by Gaborone City Council (GCC). Before Daisy Loo cashed the cheque, it was grabbed by the Directorate on Corruption and Economic Crimes (DCEC) resulting in the matter being taken to the Court of Appeal.
