FRANCISTOWN: The Alliance for Progressives (AP) has said that it may not field a Maun East parliamentary candidate in the 2019 General Election following the abrupt resignation of Baphutholodi Kgari.

The AP was dealt a major blow over the weekend when it emerged that Kgari has quit the party to join the Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC). Until he resigned, Kgari was billed to represent the AP in Maun East at the upcoming general election.

He was officially unveiled as the candidate for the AP a few months ago.  Kgari has since pledged his support for Goretetse Kekgonegile who is the UDC parliamentary candidate for Maun East.
