Another police tender prompts uproar

Citizen-owned clothing manufacturers are crying foul after the Botswana Police Service recently gave a non-citizen company, Kalahari Fashions, a tender of approximately P12 million to provide new uniforms to BPS, including the Special Support Group.

This is not the first time a decision to award a tender to Kalahari Fashions has sparked controversy. In 2007, when the relatively new company won a P20-million tender to supply the police with a complete set of uniforms, it faced the wrath of citizen companies.
