Alleged 'passion killer' gives evidence

FRANCISTOWN: A 'passion killer' who brutally stabbed his teenage white girlfriend to death after allegedly finding her having sexual intercourse with another man, gave unsworn evidence before Justice John Mosojane yesterday.

Mmusi Moshabi, 24, is facing a single count of the murder of Claire Smith on December 28, 2004 in Tutume. Moshabi told the court how his relationship with the woman had gone sour and later caught her 'red-handed' having sexual intercourse with another man. He said before the fateful day, his relationship with the deceased was on the rocks after some misunderstandings.

The victim's family had once reported him to the police for harassing their daughter following the couple's sour relationship. However, Moshabi told court that they had managed to reconcile but things took a different twist at a party where Moshabi was a DJ. He said he found the girl drunk and standing next to a certain man called 'Captain'.
"I told Captain that I wanted to talk to my girlfriend but he would not let me, saying I was a poor man who had nothing to assist the woman with. He even said that a black man could not fall in love with a white girl," said Moshabi.
