Alleged confidence trickster in court

A 41-year-old man who allegedly swindled unsuspecting individuals of P9,100, has been arraigned before the Broadhurst magistrates court.

Unemployed Onkabetse Mogwe of Tlokweng is charged with falsely obtaining a sum of about P9,100 between June and July 2008 from seven people including a Nigerian national.

Mogwe is alleged to have promised his victims lucrative jobs in the United States of America. He lured his victims to different places in Gaborone and surrounding areas. The prosecutor, Masego Ditirwa told the court that they are anticipating more victims to come forth and as such the accused person is remanded in police custody. "We have two people from Francistown and Kasane, who are also the victims, thus our investigations are still on-going," Ditirwa revealed.
