Education and Skills Development Minister Jacob Nkate accompanied by ministry officials caught Ledumang Senior Secondary School off guard on the first day of the second term yesterday.

Minister Nkate popped in at the school without their knowledge to get first hand information on what happens on the first day of school. However, the school looked prepared as all the classes that the minister visited were all organised.

The teachers also executed their duties without any fear or intimidation by the presence of the minister. It was surprising how teachers were prepared on the first day of the term. The only slight problem that cropped up during the visit was late delivery of bread for breakfast. Students had to wait for a while as the school looked for an alternative supplier. School headmaster Molosiwa Ntseane told Mmegi that they face such problems, especially during the beginning of term. He said they learnt "very late in the morning" that the supplier would not make it.
