Airport robbery suspect pleads guilty

A South African, Tebogo Augustine Mafisa, has pleaded guilty to charges of armed robbery in which approximately P5 million was stolen from Sir Seretse Khama International Airport in December 2006.

After the businessman pleaded guilty before the Village Chief Magistrate Lot Moroka, the prosecutor Priscilla Israel, applied that the case be postponed to October 30 when the state will prepare the facts and read them to the accused.

Mafisa was brought to Botswana after a South African magistrate, Wally Evert of Sebokeng issued an extradition order in July last year. He arrived in the country on Friday under heavy escort.
