AG pays up to save DIS agents from public glare

*Court papers reveal an orgy of torture
A case that threatened to reveal the underworld operations of the Directorate of Intelligence and Security has been settled out of court.

Mmegi has established that the Attorney General, in her capacity as the legal representative of DIS agents, paid over P200,000 to spare the security officers the glare of court proceedings.

DIS and 10 of its agents agreed on a P220,000 payout in compensation for the alleged torture, harassment and unlawful detention of one police officer, two soldiers and two civilians. A missing gun was at the centre of this alleged orgy of torture and humiliation.
